CPU usage is always high

My cpu usage is really high lately. I can't have anything more than Skype open before my cpu hits 10% minimum. Then if I were to open Chrome and open Pandora, it launches another 10-15% on a good day. I can't play more than a few games on BF4 before my cpu hits 90%+ My Minecraft with no texture packs or shaders, and Skype run about 65% on average. I want to believe the cause of this is from high cpu temps from too much thermal paste. I had help building my desktop from a neighbor who built his, but I wasn't the one to put the cpu and fan on. Any suggestions?

(Also I was wondering if it would be fine to put my stock fan back on for more room in my case for a cooling fan. I figured it wouldn't do any less than my new fan because I haven't overclocked yet, and don't plan to for a while if ever.) Thanks.

Specs:
CPU: i5-3570K
Graphics: GTX 760SC
Motherboard: ASUS P8Z77-V LX LGA 1155 Intel Z77
HDD: 1TB WD 5400rpm
PSU: Corsair CX750 Builder Series
RAM: 8GB Corsair
CPU Fan: Cooler Master Hyper 212EVO

Higher usage would not come from temps - higher temps would however come from higher usage.

That's a very nice build - BF4 is very CPU taxing especially in MP so I wouldn't be surprised if you're hitting 90% usage.

Why does it bother you? Are you getting reduced performance?

You could try antivirus/antimalware scans as well as updating your BIOS. Also since your 3570k is unlocked you could try overclocking it for increased performance. I recommend doing this through BIOS rather than automated tools.

I've done multiple virus and malware scans, and sometimes my games will lag no matter what settings I play on, with my cpu averaging 80%. Some of my friends have CPU's that deliver the same performance, but they only get about 50% with plenty of other things open, such as Skype and multiple internet tabs, and even other games open.
Also I forgot to mention, that my CPU could hit around 8% with absolutely nothing open, and all main programs such as internet, Skype, and Steam all stopped

It is almost always Skype, Chrome and games. I always close whatever I'm not using like Steam or Origin when I'm not playing anything?

whoa on the reinstall.when you have this high cpu usage its just when playing bf4? do you experience any problems ie slowdowns freezes etc.like an earlier poster said, this game is cpu intensive.you may just be looking for a problem that isnt there.

Well it happens with more than just BF4. Skype and Chrome are always a problem.

what im getting at here is do you have any issues with performance when this happens? you may have malware as well. to be sure download and run junkware removal tool from bleeping computer.run it and get rid of anything it comes up with.as well, download and run adwcleaner from bleeping computer, scan and get rid of anything it comes up with. also download, update and run hijack this from trend micro.do not fix anything with hijack this just post the scan along with the scans from the other two.
