What brand and model is the PSU you have now? 850w is more than enough for a 280x, but for the connectors, need to know what model. You might have a 6 pin and a 6+2, meaning that its usable as 6 or 8 and has 2 pins detachable and hang off to the side if not used.
The brand name is called 'Point' and as for the model; i'm not sure, however on the side it says the model number is PT850BR if that is of any use.
I can't find anything on it, what else is on the label? The +12v and Amperage in particular (might be more than 1 +12v), do you have a 6 and 6+2 connector be chance?
From what I can see there is no label, spent about 30 minutes roaming round the case looking for that and another pin cable but nothing, I can only see one 6 pin connector, and still only know for certain that it is an 850W PSU.
It's possible the label is on the other side or top, meaning you'd have to unscrew it and pull it part way out to see it.
That there is only 1x6 pin makes me question the quality. There is the option to get a 2x4 pin to 8 pin adapter cable, not a great option but it is one. I would pull it out and try to get more info. would suck to have a bad PSU destroy an expensive GPU. Really is odd that a 850w PSU only has 1 pci-e connector. My 700w has 2x6+2 connectors.
The wattage is fine, but the build quality and amperage is suspect at this point. If built cheaply, you could end up with power fluctuations, power spikes, etc. Which could damage or destroy the computer.
