2GB or 4GB cards

What card are you talking about? And when SLI/Crossfire'ing cards the memory doesn't stack so 2x2GB cards still has 2GB of usable VRAM. I know that some NVIDIA cards have 4GB models but apparently cannot utilize all 4GB due to a lack of memory bandwidth, now I haven't seen this first hand but it seems to be the common consensus on the forums.

As for 2gb vs 4gb - 2gb is ideal for 1080p while 4gb is for higher resolutions so you'll see the difference only if you're using a higher resolution then 1080p.
For the 2 cards suggestion, are you on a budget? because i'll suggest going with tow 780ti easily

I play 1920x1080 on a MSI laptop I bought 2 years ago. I mainly play WoW, LoL, and rts games. I am looking to build a desktop with some more power. Also give me the ability to replace parts, or upgrade if needed. I want to go dual monitor as well.

I suggest getting the 780, will leave a window open for a higher resolution due to it's 3gb of ram and will perform just better in most games:
