so ya, i got this PSU:
http://www.microcenter.com/product/361182/High_Current_...

and it fits in the case but takes up a bit more then it should and leaves an entire fan bay useless.

im thinking about going with this PSU:

http://www.microcenter.com/product/407837/ZPG-1200B_120...

but the reviews seem to have 2 issues. short cables(for full towers when i have a mid) and "brittle sata power cables"(from one user so probably still fine)

and my other 2 "options" are these:

http://www.microcenter.com/product/380840/KX_Series_100...

http://www.microcenter.com/product/407836/ZU-1000B_1000...

since they both are in my price range(if not then below).

but im basicly wondering if anyone thinks there is a major issue with the first mentioned PSU.
from my point of view
pros:
it states near 100% efficient
its modular(space)
300 more watts

cons:
less molex connectors(might be a problem, is there alternative to a molex?(connectors?))
short cables(both a pro and con really)

but this is coming from an inexperienced buyer and it would be nice to know anything i "REALLY" should look for in my next purchase.

-thanks for any help/knowledge you can provide-

I would honestly stick with the power supply you currently have, unless you absolutely need the bay it covers up. Antec is a much better power supply brand than either of the 2 others you have listed.

The Antec is the best of them , the others I would be afraid they'd burn my house down

*edit* and yes jeremyp79, i really do need that bay because lately my computer has been heating up drasticaly.(probably bc of the house needing heat in these cold months) and since w.o that bay i only have 1 intake fan and 3 outtakes( and this case is pretty horrid with its design. the mobo i have puts the ram in a placement that takes up a fan bay itself(which i might pick up a "ultra-thin" fan for))

can either of you be more precise on why you dont think the 1200 watt one is reliable and "burn my house down"?

with actually evidence of it having issues? because i hate brand name. i seen others of relative specs except corsair and only bronze certified for
nearlly triple the price.

so unless you have a proof that off brands can "burn my house down" i dont want to hear it.

and i was looking for more "facts" then "fiction" of a responce like someone noticing something like "oh this one has thin cables" or something relating to the device itself not the makers and name brand.

Just read some reviews here http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E168...
That may be an over exaggeration but Coolmax does not make quality power supplies and I would not waste my money on one as it will likely break. I would go with Corsair, Antec, Seasonic, XFX, or another reputable manufacturer

Ok, so i did some quick searching, and the only review i found on the coolmax power supply was positive, but, its actually much bigger than the antec, so it's really not an option. What are some of your system specs? Having a power supply that big is usually not necessary, and the more wattage they have, the bigger they are.

The Antec is way better than the others you listed.

Edit: the review i found was for the 1200w Coolmax psu, not the 1000 watt.

my specs are in my siggy (with a few additions like 2 more hdds, multi card reader, and a fan controller)

CPU : FX4100 GPU : Radeon HD 6770 HDD : 1TB 5900 RPM MOBO :Gigabyte GA-970A-UD3 (REV 1.1) FANS : 4 Red LED Scythe (2100 RPM) PSU : 900 watt CASE : ThermalTake V4 Black

but i know 1200 is overkill currently but i figured its better to have more then less and need to upgrade everytime you buy a part.

and from my specs i guess 900 would be OverKill.

but i plan to upgrade to a R7900 or better soon and later a new cpu. so in the long run i know 900W is fine and 1200 would be over the top correct?

now, if you all really think these are bad choices. ... can someone reccomend a good PSU

from microcenter.com that is no more then 140 USD?

and what do you all mean by " it will likely break"? the cords? the PSU just dieing? or what?

sorry im being stubborn but im far from being able to afford everything name brand(antec was a huge sale) and if you all thing it will break. what would the time frame you would be "willing to bet on" it breaking? because i do know i will be getting the 2Y replacement warranty and it has a 5Y parts/labor warranty.

so as in security of this purchase i feel like i would be happy.

p.s. i know part of the reasons this PSU has issues fitting it the cord placement....it exits on the bottom left more so only super thin fans could even fit.

I would personally just keep the Antec as it will be more than fine for any 7900 Series GPUs. And you wanted a fan in the bottom you mean?? Not much of a point in that except to suck all the dust in dirt in from the floor/table it is sitting on. Add another fan to the front

meh i guess i will keep it. but the V4 black edition TT case only has 1 front intake. and with the PSU taking up another slot that means only 4/6 fan bays are usable now.

but so far it seems everyone prefers the name brand. i guess i will keep it and just save up enough money for a case. while im here might as well ask peoples opinion on this case:

http://www.microcenter.com/product/365240/Chaser_MK-I_F...

looks great to me. just will need to modify my living arrangements to get it to fit if i end up getting it.

Looks like a nice case, has usb 3.0, seems pretty roomy. Thermaltake has a rep for making good cases as well.
Not sure if Microcenter carries it, but might take a look at the corsair cases as well. The 400r costs about the same on newegg, and has mounting points for up to 10 fans, if cooling is a big issue for you. Also has bulged side panels, which make cable management much easier.

i think for cases im going to decide between the one mention and the TT Level 10 snow edtions:

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E168...

the choice will be decided on 2 things:

current hardware
and my living arrangements at that time.

well thanks for all the help.

p.s ya once i opened up my case to do some cleaning and adjusting my sidepanel fan i found out that the PSU was actually installed

"upside down", well to a point... the 900w sticker on the side shown was right side up but flipping it made wire routing much better.

so that + the fan adjustment is keeping my computer much cooler.

once again, thanks
