Z77 exreme4 wont post - 4f 9a code shows.

I just RMAed this board, because it wouldnt post before. Got the 2nd mobo today and I get this error code, tried looking it up and nothing I have read is working. Nothing is plugged in aside from the 24pin and 8pin power, ram in a1 and b1 (ram came with the mobo). processor is a i5-3570k. So lost, and so frustrated.

I suggest testing the board out of the case. If still the same, reseat the CPU and check the socket for bent pins.

to test it out of the case, do i just need to pull out the mobo/psu , connect the power and turn it on?

pull outside of the box it stays running but a code of d7 pops up. im going to look this up now.

My case is a

NZXT Phantom 410 Series CA-PH410-W1 Black/White Steel / Plastic ATX Mid Tower Computer Case

so maybe its a short in the case? grounding issue?

Check if the standoffs in the case match the board's screw holes. An extra standoff would short the board.

omg, there are no standoffs on the case at all. im going to go search for them right now. that could easily be the issue.
