I have recently installed my new MSI R9 280x and also reinstalled windows down to me being tired of windows 8 but in doing so now my motherboard (ASUS P8H61-MLE) doesn't recognise the old card or the new card. I have tried Flashing the BIOS and un-installing the on board graphics but it still doesn't pick up the new card and therefore doesn't let me install the drivers i just get Install package failed everytime. There is ample PSU (750 to be exact) and the card powers up fine i just seem to get a blank screen if I connect through its VGA. Through installing the the new card and removing the old is it possible the PCI-E slot is damaged or am i missing a driver? i have spent all night trying to solve this Please help!

are you sure the bios upgrade worked?
are you sure you havent killed the cards when you removed them from the system... ie you made sure you were earthed and didn get a static shock when you removed the cards..
can you try the cards in a different build?
