Windows Live Mail error messages when trying to send mail

My Brother printer sends emails of scans to Live Mail. I hate this program. All I ever had for years is error messages when trying to send a scan to email. The details tab never gives a specific reason for the error messages, and the mail never goes out.
I have a fairly new computer and Brother printer and was hoping that this email would work for me, but "same old, same old".

This time I cannot find my old password so I clicked on the link and got the message that I would receive an email with the proper link to restore or change it. I cannot find this message, and without my password, there is no way to get into this account.

Is there a way to change how my Brother printer sends scans of photos or documents?. I use AOL email and was hoping I could change it to that instead of Live Mail.

Do you access your Live Mail account by signing in on a web page?
If yes, the "Scan to email" feature of a scanner does not work with web-based email accounts.

"Scan to email" only works if you have an email account set up in email software that's installed on your computer (eg Microsoft Office Outlook or Mozilla Thunderbird).

To get around that problem you first need to save the scanned item on your hard drive. Then sign in to Windows Live Mail. Compose a new message and choose the "Attach File" feature, navigate to where you saved the scan and add it to the email before sending it.
