1080p vs 720p

Does running my 360 at 720p vs 1080p stop all the framerate drops i get and will it help all other consoles too like the next gen ones i know it helps pcs but does it for console cuz i get a bunch of framerate issues on my xbox

I don't believe the upscaler has any affect on frame rates. Everything is processed at say 1280x720 (or lower) then the final frame goes through the video upscaler, is quickly resampled then sent to the screen.

Since the resampler is faster than rendering it won't be a bottleneck.
I don't think so.

Both XBOX's render at a pre-determined resolution then use a hardware upscaler to get 1920x1080. Frame rates should be constant regardless of HDTV res.

The PS4 however is rendering many games at 1920x1080 now.

Both the newer PS4 and XBOX ONE should be better at maintaining frame rates and hopefully target 60FPS more though a lot of new titles are still only 30FPS.

I know that the PS3/XBOX 360 were dropping to around 20FPS significantly in some games.

yes i know that but would making it not need to upscale or at least not as much help some of the system lag cuz i thing my xbox is hitting the end of its life after 7 years of very hard use
