Not a whole lot. The chipset may offer more or fewer ports and connections, SLI a/o Crossfire support may be enabled (if you plan on such a thing), certain boards are built for OCing parts but otherwise the board is just a platform for the CPU and GPU which doesn't affect their performance.

No directly it does not but some boards are better for OC CPU's which then indirectly will affect performance. Basically if the CPU is run at the same speed on two different board having the same GPU they will have the same gaming performance.

yes and no. IF you have great parts and a very old motherboard you will loose performance. In some cases, like if you have 2 GPU's and your motherboard only supplies x4 to the second PCIe lane, this wont run so well. If you have 2133 Mhz RAM and your motherboard can only handle 1066Mhz max, this is theoretically a performance hit. and a waste of money. You want your motherboard to be able to keep up with the rest of the parts, and then it will be fine.

strongly consider the NON LE version of this board for just under 100$...its a much better quality board, even if you are or aren't overclocking. if that wont work on the budget, the LE will be ok
