Hi
i just bought new PC
i7-4771
2x8GB HyperX beast 2400MHz
MB - Gigabyte G1.sniper Z87
SSD Samsung EVO 840 (120GB)
GTX770
Win 8.1

I installed Windows 8.1, put up usuals like Firefox etc. But i soon realized my RAM is getting full.
There is no process in Task Manager that eats that kind of memory. It builds up over about 4 hours than it gets full and swaps from SSD where my system is.

Any advice?

PS: Im new to SSD drives, can it be something with it ?

PC started about 2 hours ago - no work done on it (idle), task manager showing that my account uses around 643MB RAM (Firefox 490, etc.) but above the column for memory it shows that 45% is in use despite that there not enough if you count all the processes

Task Manager:
In Use 7.0 GB
Available 8.8GB
Comitted 7,3/18,8 GB
Cached 4.6 GB
Paged Pool 405MB
Non-paged pool 4,9GB
Speed 2400MHz
Used slots 2 of 4
Form factor DIMM
Hardware reserved 114MB

You wrote "my account uses around 643MB RAM ... but above the column for memory it shows that 45% is in use despite that there not enough if you count all the processes". Under the users tab, memory utilisation by a user represents the applications that are loaded only and nothing else. If you close all your applications, your user's memory utilization will drop significantly, but the percentage will still be high.

You should check the Performance tab where physical memory utilization is displayed. The OS tries to use as much memory as possible to optimize performance. I see something similar on my Windows Server 2012 (32GB of RAM) where memory utilisation is 49%, but the administrator account only uses 459MB of memory. That's normal as there are several VMs running on it, some memory is allocated to caching, etc. As long as the system offers good performance you shouldn't be worried about it.

Yesterday it filled up 15GB out of 16GB, than i ran out of memory and it started to swap from SSD. It was running so slow that i had to press reset button on PC to get out of it.
I need that memory to work, i use 3dsMAX but with this i cant work in it since i need about 10GB memory for it alone.
Can i set the maximum amount that system can use? Because why would it need all 16GB when i have 120GB SSD drive.

I just found out what might be the problem, the same issue is descirbed here on win8 forum
http://www.eightforums.com/performance-maintenance/22022-windows-8-memory-management-leaks-5.html

I have G1.sniper motherboard which has E2200 Killer LAN, and it seem to be problem when using it with torrents, which is also used by games i play like World of tanks/Ubisoft game download etc. When i installed my PC i was downloading like hell all my Ubi games, tanks, planes etc. It fills up the memory in background but you cant see it in Task Manager. I tried what they said to try, ill post if i get any results. Hope you guys dont come to the same problem but it seems Killer e2200, Wireless-N 1102, 1103 and 1202 might cause this problem with torrent using.
