AMD 970 BE upgrading questions

my specs currently,
AMD x4 970BE CPU / 8 gig ddr2 pc6400 ram / asrock a770de+ mobo / gtx 760 card / ssd internal drive.....

quite happy with what I have ...but .... always looking to upgrade.....

would going to am3+ board and ddr3 1866 ram with my components now be a noticable jump
< OR <
do I go with i7 4770K cpu / Z87 board and the 1866 ddr3 ram ?

main game is Rise of Flight , FPS 50+ normal game play - dropping to 25+ in heavy fire and flames of towns.

not wanting to go over 500 ish dollars.

I can get a mobo / 16gig ram / water cooler / case / for 500
or
i7 / mobo / 8 gig ram for 550.00

just trying to find out if the i7 move is worth it ... all in all ...

Thats the thought I had in the back of my head as well.
It's nice to hear others have the same view , makes me feel I am about half right then in the way
I looked at it .

If the boost isn't going to be a wow factor then the i7 is the way to go.
