AMD Phenom II X4 830 system build / budget build

I got my hands on a AMD Phenom II X4 830 and started frankensteining a pc together and I have.
This is a AM3 build, I do have a FX-4130 and a FX-4300 but they wont work with this Mobo.

ATX Mid Tower old (free)
AMD Phenom II X4 830 (got for free from dead PC - Mobo 24 pin had burnt out)
Cooler Master Hyper T4 ($10)
Biostar T-Series TA890FXE AMD 890FX Socket AM3 ATX Motherboard ($30)
8GB Memory 4GB x2 PC3-12800 DDR3-1600MHz non-ECC Unbuffered ($48)
1TB HDD 7200 rpm ($30)
Optical Drive (free)
500W Power Supply ($14)
Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium SP1 64-bit OEM ($80)

For graphics should I get a Radeon HD 7770 ($80) or Radeon HD 6750 ($40) x 2 crossfire

Total ($292)

Also is OC possible with this cooler and will this be a playable pc with current games ( I dont realy play video games myself )
Im thinking of trying to sell this and maybe buying an 8 core amd Mobo AM3+ to start a new build or maybe and FM2 with a A10, I hope this will get me a good start?

Please give me your thoughts, any thing I may do or add to make it better cheaply

This build is fine.
The Biostar 890FX AM3 is a great board, with a Cooler Master Hyper T4 should OC a PhII 830 Deneb quite well, and should push any modern video card in outstanding fashion at resolutions of 1080p and up.

A single Radeon HD 7770 is roughly the 'minimum' for 1080p gaming. In some new titles your frame rate will struggle and you will have to minimize detail. Adding a second HD 7770 in Crossfire would greatly improve the gaming performance, in some...

The Radeon HD 7770 is new on sale w/ a coupon (regular is about $125)
and the HD 6750 are refurbished
I looked hard and jumped through hoops to find these prices

Also from CPU World the specs on the AMD Phenom II X4 830 - HDX830WFK4DGM OEM match the specs AMD Phenom II X4 925 - HDX925WFK4DGI / HDX925WFGIBOX 99.9% its the same CPU

Your graphics is holding you back.

With DDR3 1333MHZ your sweet spot will be 14x250MHz --- with DDR3 1600MHz it's 14x240MHz. I highly suspect you could run 14x280MHz with DDR3 1866MHz if you were so inclined, but that might ding your IMC/NB OC.

Keep the HT as close to 2000MHz as possible.

I hope this thing will work for me?

But I am thinking about just putting it in my pc since I am still using a EVGA NVIDIA GeForce 9500 GT (01GP3N959TR) 1 GB DDR2 and its starting to get kinda doggy

Maybe you could talk to me like I dont understand, because I dont. I have never done any OC to any of my system or never understood what I was doing and as far as graphics cards as long as it fit in the hole and didnt start smoking I figured it was a success.

This build is fine.
The Biostar 890FX AM3 is a great board, with a Cooler Master Hyper T4 should OC a PhII 830 Deneb quite well, and should push any modern video card in outstanding fashion at resolutions of 1080p and up.

A single Radeon HD 7770 is roughly the 'minimum' for 1080p gaming. In some new titles your frame rate will struggle and you will have to minimize detail. Adding a second HD 7770 in Crossfire would greatly improve the gaming performance, in some cares roughly equal to a single HD7950 video card. And 4 Deneb cores at 3.5GHz+ will push that just dandy.

In fact, you should get a Radeon R9 290 dual-fan card at $380 or so in a few months. That should game nicely, and beg for a 3-monitor setup :D . Everything in your rig will move to an AM3+ motherboard, including the PhII 830, but that is not the best place for you to spend your money.

You want to build a gaming rig, you go big on your video card.
Don't spend $300-$400 on a mobo/CPU -- it's a video card in a gaming rig -- spend it on your graphics.

OC-ing is not a problem, but you should read the BIOS section of your motherboard manual and have a general understanding of what the heck is going on. It ain't that hard :D

Your CPU multiplier cannot go above 14X, but it is 'unlocked' going down. In order to over-clock, you will have to raise your system clock. At stock it is 200MHz X 14 or, 2.8GHz.

Your motherboard will go a lot higher than a 200MHz clock, but there are 5 or 6 settings in the BIOS that need to be adjusted to compensate for the higher system clock. You should start a thread in the Overclocking thread after you read through you BIOS. Essentially ...

Set the system clock at 250MHz
CPU Multiplier at 12x
IMC/NB Multiplier at 9x
HT Link at 8x
Lock the PCIe to 100MHz
Set the memory divider to 5.33
