My motherboard is an ASUS M3A76-CM and right now my CPU is a AMD Phenom II X4 940 Processor 3.00 GHz.

How much will an upgrade cost me? I live in Canada, is this upgrade worth something or the board is already too old and i need a new one too? :p

You need to decide if there is a CPU that would give you a tangible difference. Keep in mind the MB version and BIOS version you have. Not all on the list is compatible, nor are they even for sale any more.
It all comes down to cost vs the sometimes tiny improvement you would see in day to day usage.

You might be better off to get a new MB, CPU and operating system upgrade if the goal is modern gaming. For an average person and internet browsing, and simpler software your PC as is will do.
