Here are my specs

- zalman z11 plus case
-msi z87 g45 motherboard
-500gb and 2tb hard drives
-corsair vengance 8gb ram
-intel 4670k
Msi radon 7850 graphics card
- asus sound card
- random disk drive

My current PSU is a cooler master 500 watt,
Do I need a more powerful PSU? I am in dire need of an answer any help is appreciated.

PS: the P1 power connector is 20 pin while the motherboard seems to have 24 so I don't think 500 watt is great enough.

No, you won't need a new power supply. But if you want to upgrade, I recommend you get a better quality one from a trusted brand like Seasonic or XFX. Also, be sure to pick one with a high certification and modular cabling. It's a bit more expensive but well worth the money.

Having a PSU with a higher wattage than you need will simply make the unit runs cooler and quieter, with some power to spare if you need it.

Well you can't knock out the power to the whole house with a computer (or any appliance for that matter). It's plugged in a single outlet, so most you could possibly do is knock out one circuit in your house..... (house have 15 --- 20 totally independent circuits...)

Must be an OLD supply you simply should not use believe you'll need the full 24 pins for it to power your new computer properly....

WELL, IF the circuit breaker on the line your on failed to open, you might trip the 100A/150A/200A main box breaker before the wiring in the walls when up in flames.....
