VRAM a big deal in BF4 multiplayer?

Hi guys,

I'm planning on upgrading from a GTX 560ti to a GTX 700. Specifically to play BF4 smoothly.
I only run 1920 x 1080, so my question(s) is this:

- Will there be much of a noticeable performance difference? I can only find benchmarks for single player BF4, which seem useless.
- Is VRAM a big deal? I've only ever uses ASUS cards and trust them, but the 2gig version is about the same price as a 4bib Gigabyte. Which i've never used before.

Failing that, My motherboard only supports AMD, and while I know BF was optimised for it, can't help but feel the intel CPUS are better. But this would require a totally new build.
Currently using a AMD FX-4100. So not sure if this would bottleneck the GTX770.

Thanks.

AMD CPU's do well in BF4, but that really only applies to the 6 cores and 8 cores. More cores the better for this game. This game is a Vram hog, if you want to max the details and graphics get the 4GB, 2GB will do ultra without AA at 1080p, but that depends on how powerful the card that your getting is. If the 4GB is at nearly the same price, why not just get it, It will help a lot in BF games.

I run High on my 5850's but some maps do tax the memory out to much, they are 1GB, I can run Medium all day and not think twice.

Hi, thanks for the answer. Unfortunately I literally just placed an order for a new card, and as I didn't get a response I went with a 2gig one.

Ordered a Asus GTX770 with 2gig, so that should be fine to run the game well on one screen at 1920 x 1080. Think the CPU will bottleneck anything more, and my AMD CPU seems to be doing better than my friends Intels at BF4.

The game really like clock speeds to, so even if you did OC you CPU, you'd probably see a good bit of difference. But I don't thinkt he CPU would bottleneck much if at all int his game on the 770, if you run the game on ultra which it should be able to do, you may have to run without Anti-Aliasing or put it on 2x and keep the resolution scale at 100%. Should run it well.

Sorry I don't get on these forums vary much, I would have got to your question sooner, but work gets int he way to much lol. You wont be disappointed with the 770, its a great card.

That's awesome, Thank you :) I've loved my GTX 560ti and it's been great on all games. Just BF4 has made it show its age. I was considering swapping the cpu out for a 8320, but that's probably the max as the MB is AMD only and I don't fancy another rebuild yet.
Been weighing up the 780, and the 280 / 290, but settled on the 770.

Work... tell me about it.
