Is GPU Overclocking capped?

Hi. So... I have an Asus DC2 GTX 760 wich I bough not long ago, and it is an amazing overclocker. However, I'm trying to beat a "GPU-CPU class" record and I wanted a little more from it.
I had it with a +72 core clock offset for a while, and I recently found its max - +101 core clock offset
but if I push it to +102, when I test it with Unigine Heaven, it later stops for 2 seconds and it comes back with the stock clock... The GPU doesnt go above 67ºC, so is it a cap? or a safety measure of some sort?...

I'm no expert at OC'ing GPUs but to the best of my knowledge what you need is higher voltage for the GPU through your mobo bios. It's similar to OC'ing your CPU in that you can tell your mobo to set higher multipliers but if there is not suffiecient voltage it may be unstable or might not even post at all. Do some research before adding voltage, apparently it's easy to burn out your GPU that way.

There is no need to apply more voltage to the GPU from the MoBo. I, however, upped it already with Precision X to +12 voltage offset. But that is not the problem. Even without the overvoltage it can handle the +101 core offset, so I dont think that is the problem. I still think it's a cap.
