Hi,

I am looking at a laptop which shows the following spec for the ram:

8 GB (4 GB (PC3L-12800 SO-DIMM) x 2) DDR3L SDRAM (Max)*2

I wonder what the (Mx)*2 refers to here? I believe it has 2x4gb ram in it, however I wonder if I can increase it to 16GB? (given the motherboard & CPU support it).

I also wonder what the PC3L & DO-DIMM refer to?

Thanks

so-dimm = small outline dual in-line memory module Its basically a reduced sized Dimm module for laptops. They have less pins than a normal dim module and are around half the size. PC3L means its a ddr3 low voltage module.
