has anyone has a hyper212+ and upgraded to h110?

i want to know the actual degree differences.
is it really worth spending $120 for it?
is it only like a 3 degree difference?

20 degree difference? 2 degree difference?

i have a hyper212+ on a 3770K @ 4.5 GHz and wanted to get more out of it but i dont know if the h110 would actually make a significant difference.

Dear Evan1715,

Every card has a limit on how much voltage can be added. Actually +150mv is a pretty decent increase in voltage. I'm not sure which video card you have but I would check with other forum members to make sure that is a safe voltage for your card.

Yes you can replace the liquid in both the Eisberg and the Glacer. You can use either distilled water or one of the colored coolants that are sold on water cooling websites. The tubing can also be changed to a different color.

All these parts can be found on websites such as FrozenCPU.com

If you want to go past the 4.5 Ghz then better find a GOOD quality water cooler...but if you want to stick close to that mark then no don't do it;
To be honest Extreme overclocking is not worth it at least not as much as it used to be in the past ;)

I went from Hyper 212 Evo to h100i with 2 cougar vortex fans and I don't think it was worth it, probably going back to air cooling sometime soon for peace of mind incase it might leak/rupture. I guess it was cool for the looks. I'd stick with the hyper 212 unless you have room for a huge high end air cooler

so basically id have to spend a lot of money on a great water system for it to actually make a difference and hyper212+ and h110 isnt much of a difference for the money when i already have the hyper212+.

fuh, lol.

noctua dh-14 is going to be better than both of those on sound, cooling, and price (only 19dB on max). As long as you have moderate air flow through your case (which you should have even with water cooling), noctua is the way to go.

If you can stand the looks of the ugly noctua then certainly that's a good cooler. I wish they would make their new black fans available for consumers, because I'd buy a black version of the dh-14 on the spot lol.

I've also heard good things about the NZXT Havik 140mm, Phanteks 140mm (but HUGE), their 120mm with colored fans seems same size as hyper 212. Silverstone, Thermalright

not an awful lot of choices from my research at the high end air cooling market. And I doubt anything but the best air cooler would make you happy over the hyper 212, it really is great for the price. Take a look at the black huge phanteks 140mm :p

Dear evan1715,

I would suggest looking at our expandable liquid coolers such as the Glacer 240L and the Eisberg 240L.

Glacer 240L

Eisberg 240L

yes, but noctua dh-14 is quieter, cheaper, less prone to pump fail, less prone to cause your cpu to short circuit in case of leak, and performs much better than most $~100 watercoolers (h100i, etc) However, despite all that, for a watercooler, cooler master is very good, such as the eisber/glacer, but noctua air is usually better

im not sure what expandable means but the coolers u listed cost more than the h110. the h110 is also less in temperature, if not equal. and as this guy pointed out, a less of a warranty.

the noctua is mighty large which results in mighty ugly :\

what if i got a low watt peltier and put the hyper212 on it?
low enough watts wouldnt make condensation, right?

Dear Evan,

The Corsair liquid cooler are not expandable so they can only cool the CPU. The Glacer 240L and Eisberg 240L are able to be modified, so you can purchase additional radiators or GPU water blocks and cool your whole system without purchasing a new cooler. :)

That's a nice option, there was some company Swifttech with a liquid cooler called the h220 or whatever awhile back that could let the user re-fill the coolant and add a gpu water block to it, but apparently some legal crap made them not ever sell it in USA again, it's cool the cooler master ones can do that.

Dear Evan1715,

Usually you can not increase you your GPU's voltage in bios unless your talking about the HD graphics. This is usually accomplished using programs like MSI Afterburner or ASUS GPU tweak.

Regarding the Peltier idea. Its not something that we test here so i wouldn't be able to give you any accurate information.

on afterburner (evga precision) i can only go up like +150 mV... i thought since the program limited it, it had to be done in bios.

why cant i add more voltage? it doesnt even make it hot when i add that tiny amount of voltage.

for the cooler master expandable ones, can u replace the liquid or is it locked in?

I see this has already been answered but I'm going to go ahead and recommend the msi core frozr L. I upgraded to that from the hyper 212x and I shed a good 12c off of my max temp while stressing. The price is almost the same as the hyper 212x minus the risk of leaking and damaging your components since it's air cooling.
