I built my first computer and I'm trying to install Ubuntu as my OS from a USB. It will will giving me the whole setup and it will get to the security key setup it says kernel panic-not syncing and under that it will say panic occurred, switching back to text console. I don't know what this means.
Will someone please help me?

Go into motherboard BIOS and disable "secure boot". Also make sure that "Other" operating systems are enabled, else it will ONLY work with Microsoft. Hope this solves the issue. If not, try to find "Legacy MBR" or similar and choose to install in legacy mode (not UEFI).

I wish someone would bring this damn UEFI secure boot nonsense to an anti-trust trial.

How did you burn the .iso file (Ubuntu) onto the usb drive? Try using "unetbootin".
