I'm running a VGA from my PC to my monitor. I am using the only HDMI output to stream movies to my TV. Do VGA cables vary in quality by price or are they all the same as are HDMI, no reason to spend a lot of money. I'm getting a 6' cable

Solution

VGA cables vary a bit in terms of connector quality, but for short lengths the cables themselves won't vary much. Unlike HDMI and DVI, signal loss over VGA will have an impact on image quality.

Well, 1st time on this site for me, not sure how it works. But I like both answers from Pinhedd and Ironsounds. I also read a review stating the diff between cheap and medium price is way bigger than medium and high price. Sounds like medium price cables, whatever that may be.

Ironsounds- on another note, Is there an adapter for an HDMI cable that would split off the audio so I could go directly to my receiver/surround system? I'm running the HDMI from my PC to my TV, but have no pass thru sound on the TV to go to the receiver. It would be great if the adapter split off the audio but also continued with the audio to the TV. So it would be a full HDMI connection to the TV, but the adapter would allow the audio to go to the receiver. Then I could use the surround sound whenever I choose or the TV sound. Make sense, or am I dreaming ?
Thanks
