Can't Get Displayport 1.2 on Dell U2414h Monitors to work

I bought 3 of these monitors. I have tried connecting them to both my lenovo thinkpad x230t and macbook air 2013 model 11in and neither one of them works properly. I can only get the 3 monitors to display the same thing. With dp 1.2, they are supposed to be able to display different things, but it is working. Contacting dell support was beyond terrible and a complete waste of time. Any help would be appreciated.

It appears that my lenovo laptop has the Intel(R) HD Graphics 4000, which does not support displayport 1.2; it only supports 1.1a.

For the mac, it has thunderbolt 1, which does not support 1.2 displayport. The new thunderbolt 2 connector does support displayport 1.2

Thank you for your response. Do you know if Late 2008 MBP's mini displayport supports displayport version 1.2 or not?
