Windows 8 are doomed so i suggest 7.Doomed? How so?
Windows 8 is faster, more secure and has plenty new/improved features such as the task manager, storage spaces, fast-boot, file history, refresh etc etc
Windows 7 is 4 1/2 years old with only 1 year of mainstream support remaining.
Look past the start menu...
or just install Start8 if you hate it that much

Ok so I have Windows 7 but I heard that a new Windows OS might come out around next year. It seems like the current pattern is that a new OS from Microsoft is released every two years. Is this any what accurate? If so, I will go ahead and get that new OS instead of wasting my money on windows 8. The only real reason I wanted to know is because I am a huge Battlefield 4 fan and love that game. I heard that it would run better and was optimized for Windows 8. I just want the best performance from that game on my system.

Most frequently asked question when people buying new pc is - Can I uninstall windows 8 and get windows 7? Windows 8 future is same as Windows Vista.

Which would be better? Windows 7 or Windows 8? I did hear that some Direct support would be limited on Windows 7. What is better for gaming?Windows 7 is better for gaming then Windows 8 because Windows 7 is a mature system and most of the games being made will work well on Windows 7. Windows 8 doesn't handle 3D graphics as fast as Windows 7 does.

Mainstream support ends in 2015 but extended support ends in 2020. Effectively after one year you will not be able to call Microsoft on the phone for support questions. To be honest I don't know anyone who has ever called Microsoft to ask them for help. Typically people use Google or come to places like this to ask their questions.
Windows 7 will still continue to receive Windows updates and fixes until 2020. Windows XP mainstream support ended in 2009 yet this didn't really effect anyone from using Windows XP up until the extended support came to and end April this year.
Hope this helps clarify that Windows 7 is still good for another 6 years and will support most of the games being made. My advice to anyone is don't bother upgrading Windows unless you come across a game or program that simply won't work anymore in Windows 7.

End of Mainstream support also means it won't get any new features. It will receive updates but only for bug fixes and security updates.
The reason I brought this up is mainstream support ends in January 2015 while DirectX 12 is scheduled for release in Q2/Q3 2015. There is a very good chance Windows 7 will not get support for DirectX 12, which is obviously a big downer for gaming.
However... since I made that post (this thread was opened 6 months ago btw) Microsoft have confirmed it will be supported anyway, so happy days!
I'm sure there will be other things it will miss out on between 2015 and 2020 though

I'd like to point out that Windows 9 has been announced, so if you're building in the next couple of years, then Windows 9 will be there for you. Sure, Windows 8 sucks IF YOU DON'T LIKE THE METRO SCREEN, but rumours say that Windows 9 will bring back the start menu and may potentially get rid of the metro screen.
