Hello,

I am trying to factory restore my Optiplex 755 that is running Vista business. I am told that if I restart the computer and press F8 that I will get an Advanced Boot Options menu and then I can select repair computer. I do get the Advanced Boot Options menu but not the repair computer option. Is there a way for me to factory restore this computer? I don't have recovery disc either.

Thanks,

Ac3

F8 is not used for a factory restore. You can find instructions here http://support.dell.com/support/topics/global.aspx/supp...

If you don't have a factory disk set or a recovery partition, you'll have to order a restore disk set from Dell of fine one online elsewhere (ebay sellers often have restore disks although don't buy any Windows keys there).

F8 gives you the Windows boot menu which gives you the option to boot in Safe mode. I wouldn't even bother with Vista anymore, I would buy a copy of Windows 7 before Microsoft stops shipping it to retailers. 7 will run a lot better on it and will be supported (i.e. security updates) longer than Vista.
