Hello, recently I build a Windows 8.1 based desktop. I installed the OS on a Seagate Solid State Hybrid Drive. Occasionally, when I boot up, there's a Win 8 splash and then a black screen. No disk activity, no mouse cursor and the monitor indicates there is a signal input (monitor's power light is green, not orange). I have to reset it then it boots up normally. This also happens when I wake the system up from sleep. Black screen, no mouse cursor and there's a signal input to the monitor. Every LED that's suppose to be on are lit (except HDD activity LED, not even blinking) and all fans are running.

I did edit several registry entries, but does not know if it's the cause:
- Unparked four of the cores
- Made Corsair Link worked by editing USB 2.0 registry described here: http://forum.corsair.com/v3/showthread.php?t=120962

Here are my specs:
AMD FX 8320 OC'd @ 4.40 GHz
Asus M5A99FX Pro R2.0
Asus Radeon HD 7850 2GB
4GB of G. Skills Memory @ 1600MHz
Corsair CX600M
1 TB of Seagate SSHD

I'd appreciated if you could help me trouble shoot the problem. Thank you.

Did it ever work fully?
What was the last thing you did before it started acting up?

Ok the thing is, right not, I do not have any restore points. I tried refreshing Win 8 but I have to make those registry editing to unpark the cores and get corsair link working. System power options is balanced. It occurs not that often, maybe 1 of out 10 times that it boots up and almost every time when I wake it up from sleep. It start acting like this almost the same day I had Win 8 installed.

Another thing is, the motherboard has a EPU (Energy Processing Unit). Asus implanted that chip in to save energy. It could be that chip causing this.

Your could try disabling that option if you can in the bios might be worth a shot.
