Hi, I have seen a few posts about similar problems, but as it seems, every single one is different, so I decided to start my own.

System specs:

  • CPU: AMD FX-6300
    Mainboard: MSI 970A-G43
    RAM: Elixir DD3, 2x 4GB
GFX: ASUS RADEON HD 7790 1GB
System homebuilt.
All components are new.

Problem:
At random basis I experience system freezes, cursor does not move, keys does not work, screen just freezes, audio holds at single note for about 10 seconds and then silences.

Diagnosis so far:

  • ■ Temperature seems to be acceptable, 34-38C at idle, gpu up to 75C at stress, cpu up to 65C
    ■ Freezes occur during gaming as often as during web surfing.
Do you have any ideas what could cause these freezes? Thanks for all the replies!

EDIT:
I've run portable Linux from pendrive, and it also freezed, so I guess the issue is strictly hardware-related.

Is it somehow possible, that I broke motherbord while pluging power cable, or installing graphic card?

I'm not familiar with the FX series, but I've installed box radiator and fan. I guess temp is not a problem since freezes are not load-related.

Does not come back, need to restart with a button.
It happened since assembly.
All drivers are new, so is the OS.
Windows 8.1 got Microsoft Security Essentials built-in, I've got all the newest definitions and updates, also I didn't download anything apart from official websites.

CASE SOLVED:
Freezes were caused by MOUSE... It was hard to track, mouse worked fine, till freeze (most likely caused by current breakthrough), then after reset still working good. Now, with new mouse, everything is ok.
