hp's official documentation states that maximum memory possible is 8GB for my system, but am doubting that is up to date.

can anyone advise whether I can install 2X8 (total 16GB) in my machine?
current configuration is: i5 2400 with 4GB memory
total memory slots: 2

thanks a lot in advance

...the mainboard is intel chipset H61...

Here is where you're probably mistaken. It's probably an HP Tweaked Intel H61 chip set, which probably limits what CPUs can be installed and how much memory can be installed. Remember, we're talking business class systems.

HP has probably sold tens of thousands of these systems over it's life span. If you sold 500 of these to a company and five years later, that company comes back to you and says, "These systems were great, but they don't do the job any more.", as a company, what are you going to offer them:

1) "Well, you can always upgrade your systems with new processors and increased RAM."
2) "Well, describe your computer requirements and we can provide your company with a new system...

ya you're probably right, though I was wondering, what is the limiting factor here? I mean the OS obviously is not, & the mainboard is intel chipset H61, so is the CPU. All 3 factors that dictate the memory limitation are open to more than 8.
this is why I posted the question in the forum. could it be that HP's 8GB figure is only recommended? not mandated?
