is it worth it to upgrade from intel e5500 2.8GHz to AMD Athlon II X2 270 3.4 GHz.?

my PC spec:-
Intel e5500 dual-core 2.8GHz
ATI Radeon HD5670 1GB GDDR5 128-bit
6GB RAM

Solution
eh not worth it. You'd be better off getting even an ivy/sandy bridge bridge i3 cpu and new cheap mobo rather than getting an old dual core amd cpu.

what resolution are you on? I'd say get a better gpu but if your psu isn't up to par that's even more money.

you'd see a decent increase even getting a 7750 gpu

you were kinda vague in your post. What is your pc used for, just gaming? Save up even for a cheap 6 core amd cpu on sale and 970 series mobo

hm.. can you suggest the best and cheap CPU, GPU and mobo for me to upgrade.? my PSU is 500w

Is it bronze rated? If you're on a budget get a corsair builder 500w psu

right now with the consoles sporting weak 8 core amd cpus, I'd say if you want an AMD, get the fx 6300 6 core vishera, hyper 212 evo cooler, and on a budget the 7790gpu, if you can spare $180-$200, get the r9 270x or r9 270 (clocked lower, basically rebranded hd7870), and for mobo get this asus http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813131873

the one I linked is the right one. Make SURE you don't get the "LE" version as it doesn't have a heatsink for its VRM's and is horrible for overclocking and would probably fry lol.

honestly I wouldn't go intel unless you can at least afford an i5 cpu. I wouldn't go with a dual core cpu in 2014.

hm.. actualy i live in MALAYSIA which is far2 in ASIA. so.. the CPU u suggest is kind of expensive here.. so.. i found this INTEL core 2 QUAD q6600 2.4GHz. what your opinion on this CPU?

AND i found this video on youtube. this guy play BATTLEFIELD 4 on HIGH setting and.. it's good. no lag. click here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WaRGeHe3xYI

There's one of a guy talking in spanish while playing the multiplayer on the q6600 with a 512mb 5670 ddr5

It'll probably play any game out there on 720p resolution on low if you're on a budget. I was actually going to suggest a core 2 quad so you can just put the cpu in at first, but I imagined being so old it would choke definitely on 1080p monitor. On low 720p settings, you should be fine until you can ever buy anything better.

hi whitesnake hmm sory disturbing u again hehe. hm this a pricelist AMD Processor in MALARYSIA. hm what u think about FX4130 and A8 5600k? are they good for gaming? if they are, which one is better.?

Bulldozer wasn't the best for gaming, and the a8 5600k is based off the better Piledriver. Although fm2 is a dead socket and fm2+ boards are a little pricey.

The 4130 will suck up more power, a8 5600k already has alright graphics built in till you can afford a gpu.

What is the price of intel cpu's there? You may honestly be better off getting like a haswell i3 4130 (it has ok built in graphics)

I've done lots of research as lately I've had low fps even with my high end pc in bf4, and, I've seen vids of people playing bf4 multiplayer with only the i3 cpu and getting the same fps as me if not better lol.

Soooo, if you're on a budget, i3 is a consideration, and later on upgrade to an i5 if you need it.

this is the pricelist for intel:

looks like the price for FX4130 is cheaper than i3-4130.. maybe i should go for FX4130 didn't I? because I still had to change my MOBO if get the i3-4130..

the fx 4130 will work with your current mobo?

I'm not too familiar with the bulldozer AMD cpu's to be honest, I always heard they were pretty bad even compared to the old Phenom 965

Since your motherboard would support it, have you thought about getting a core 2 quad? I know it isn't the best but would be a rather cheap improvement over what you already have

I'm assuming your setup is so old it's using ddr2 ram, and ram prices have went up, with a new mobo you'd need ddr3 which would cost even more.

What is your total budget? Are you just going to keep your old gpu or get a new one, and what resolution and games are you wanting to play?

For now, i just want to improve my CPU. i'll improve my GPU later. so, do u think core 2 quad can run games like FIFA 14, AC IV Black Flag, COD Ghost, BF4 smoothly with my later hd7770 GPU? if Yes, than i'll just go for core 2 quad.. and 1 more thing, my RAM is DDR3. not DDR2..

WhiteSnake91

for the sake of it being cheap, get a core 2 quad and see if that improves enough to your satisfaction, I just looked up comparing the q6600 to the fx 4130 and the bulldozer had better single thread performance

http://cpuboss.com/cpus/Intel-Core2-Quad-Q6600-vs-AMD-FX-4130

With the 4130 you'll need the cpu,new mobo, ddr3 ram

with the q6600,that's all you'll need, saving you probably $200+ but, don't expect too much, it's a very old cpu

hi hm i got another question hehe hm i just bought AMD Phenom II X6 1055T 2.8GHz.. with Asus M468T-M V2 mobo. Problem is I just realize that my PSU isn't Bronze rated like u said. so... is it ok? u told me that I had to change my PSU to Bronze rated JUST in case if I want to use Radeon HD 7770 right.? that mean if I still using my Radeon HD 5670 for now, I dont have to change my PSU right.?

1 more thing, I just found a used Bronze rated PSU for sale. This is it:

http://www.coolermaster.com/powersupply/gx-series/gx-550w/

is it good.?

WhiteSnake91

nice choice on the 6 core phenom :p , it'll be a nice improvement over what you had before..I have a soft spot in my heart for the Phenom II's.

Cooler Master power supplies are ok, not the best, but world's better than any prebuilt one. If it's a good price I'd go for it. An XFX or Corsair is technically better, but probably more pricey. I've seen many people over time with gaming pc's built with cooler master PSU's and theirs still works.

hmm.. i had installed my AMD Phenom II X6 1055T and ASUS M468T-M V2.. and I installed windows 8 pro with Media Center. the problem is my computer was suddenly frozen/stuck. do u know why? is there anything i had to set in BIOS? i had use windows 8 pro wMC for a year at my laptop and had no problem with it. so i think it is either the MOBO or PROCESSOR.. =(

could possibly be the motherboard, or possible hard drive but I doubt the hard drive would suddenly die like that. Try to return the motherboard and then try the replacement, a cpu going bad is pretty much rare, while motherboards going bad is all too common sadly :(
