I'll use them mostly for movies and just a little bit of gaming but no mic is required.

1) They need to have deep "clean" bass but not muffled, I want to clearly hear other tones to.
2) I don't want to hear too much background noise so closed cups and if possible noise canceling.
3) Apart from stereo headphones there are also 5.1 and 7.1, are they worth it? Will the difference knock my socks off or it is only a subtle barely noticeable effect for very advanced sudiophiles ear.
4) I don't believe in spending tons of cash so they need to be in reasonable price. I've tried some expensive ones in the past and I wasn't impress enough to justify the money they cost.

Basicaly I would like to feel like I am in the orchestra when I listen to them I want to feel surounded by the sound and immersed (and this must happen not only at maximum volume levels).

Any ideas?

Yeah Sennheiser, or Grado (a bit less)...

- get over ear not on-ear for best comfort (in-ear, ah, those aren't even headphones....)
- noise canceling is Not an option if you actually want to hear music that sounds like music....
- you have 2 ears, 2 channel head phones are best for music (the immersion of a good 2 channel headset are amazing, no need to look at multi-channel)
- I don't now what you consider "a ton of cash"... but good headphones are not cheap (but will last a very, very long time)

""""Basically I would like to feel like I am in the orchestra when I listen to them I want to feel surrounded by the sound and immersed (and this must happen not only at maximum volume levels)."""""
- good headphones will transport you to the venue where you can hear the musicians shoes squeak & breathing...

- Over ear, that is what I am after anyway, I want closed cups not open ones, as I tried these and I didn't like them.
- I just thought of it as an option, you know flick the switch but it is not very important to me.
- I have never tried the multi driver or for that matter multi channel ones so I have no experience here, this is why i asked if they are worth anything. My gut tells me it is not worth my attention.
- I could max out on anything, cash is not a problem BUT as a minimalist I hate things that are useless so I have tried some expensive £200-£500 in the shop and, ok they were alright but NOT for that price I mean I was not able to pick subtle differences between them and some lower level ones. I assume I just don't have the very sensitive ear. SO I am looking for something max £150 no point waste more money.

I don't know anything about grado but I have tried some senheisers and ok I did like some of them but to be honest I was not happy with them. Ones were to stiff and sound was just normal what was expected not knocking me of at all.

So anyway I am looking for headphones with this specs:

- powerful bass (not muffled)
- experience of being in large auditorium
- surround, I would like to be able to hear sounds in games around me (this is not one of the essentials but semi important feat. to me)

As I was crawling the net, when looking for most bassy ones I found that v-moda m100 are very much liked and have mostly max positives. I know they are not pro heads.. but I don't care I wan't lots of low tones with clear other ones and they apparently are fine. Expensive but I don't care I tried different ones 2y ago and they were really good so I am thinking about them.

Any thoughts about them?

Ah, I was thrown off by "I would like to feel like I am in the orchestra when I listen to them I want to feel surounded by the sound and immersed"......

If your taste runs more to heavy bass and impact I look at something like Beats by Dre.... might be more of what your looking for

I tried few sennheisers, and I don't like them too much, I am not saying they sound bad, they are alright, some where to tight and unconfortable. Tried DRE in the shop can't remember which ones but that price is putting me off I mean I could buy them but I would simply be unhappy with them because of overpaying.
