Hello. Today I found a monitor in my room I forgot I had. Its a HP LED or LCD 19" It has no stickers on it, I don't know any model numbers. I remembered it worked last month and so I gave it a try. I plugged it into my working HP Windows 7 desktop via VGA to VGA to see it the monitor worked. And it did; it showed perfect color and resolution for everything. I used it for about 5 minuets then decided to see what it would look like if I plugged it into my working Dell Windows 7 Laptop via VGA to VGA. When I did it also turned on, but wasn't displaying anything. So I went to my display - personalize - appearance settings where I chose to do Extended display option. Then the monitor went black. But then I look closely and realized, it's not full OFF, just the back light isn't turning on. Like if you look super close at the right angle, you can see what its showing. When I turn off the monitor and then on again. It looks perfectly for 1 second, then makes a really quiet fan/beep noise on the back and then the screen goes black again. I thought maybe I had the Refresh rate to high or the resolution wan't the right one, but I set them all to low and put the brightness of the monitor on max 100. Now it does the same thing, even if I plug it into the desktop I mentioned earlier. I've tried doing a factory reset on the monitor also. What do I do. How can I turn the back light on? I just let it go for 2 hours and when I came back to it it did the same thing, but this time worked for 15 seconds. How do I get it to stay on? Thanks!

This is additional information:

I just did more testing. This is what I found. If I turn the brightness down (what is very hard to do when there is no back light) it will turn on for around 7 seconds then make a noise and shut off the back light. If you put the brightness at 100 it does the same thing only for 1-2 seconds. If its broken, is there anything I could fix? Its a $100 monitor and Id hate to have to buy a new one.
