How to get more performance from my FX-6300

So I recently upgraded from a stock clocked 7950, to a 780. I knew going into it that my FX-6300 would be a pretty big bottle neck on some games, however I wanted to upgrade my graphics card before my CPU since i knew it would be more noticeable (which it was). Gaming on three monitors is much smoother, minus the Nvidea drivers which aren't nearly as convenient as AMD's.

Anyway I have my FX-6300 running at a stable 4.5, and in most games its perfectly fine. However in Far Cry 3 the CPU is a really noticeable bottleneck. I usually only play that game on a single monitor, and with the settings on ultra with 4xmsaa the gpu runs at around 65-80% usage while my cpu goes to 75-87%. Frame Rates are anywhere from 34-solid 60, but the dips are really obvious, and frequent. even if i drop the settings to high, and drop the msaa the CPU still keeps the frames stuttery. Another example would be Battlefield 3. On big servers the FPS will drop down to 45, sometimes 30 which is obvious and annoying. The 780 tears through both games, and the CPU stumbles through them.

I was wondering if there were any windows tweaks i can make to improve performance, considering that a higher overclock will overheat my CPU and freeze my computer. I heard someone talking about disabling core parking, but im not sure if that will help, or what that does. I spent about 575$ for the GPU and ram this Christmas plus a 3rd monitor, so it will be a while until i upgrade my cpu. When i do upgrade im going intel so that will be another 400$ or so. So is there anything i can do to improve performance, other than overclock more?
Thanks

try that. Saw it posted here the other week to unpark your cores. That should help some.

Weird as I thought Far Cry 3 was pretty much solely GPU bound...but I wouldn't know since I have the i5 3570k myself.

You'd imagine with the current consoles using weak 8 core AMD cpu's that you'd fare a bit better especially with a 4.5ghz overclock. It may be the core parking, also I don't like Windows 8.1 much personally but I heard upgrading the OS will increase FPS as well due to optimizations done for the AMD chips due to their module design.

Thanks for your answer. I unparked my cores, and installed a hotfix from windows. Performance in FC3 improved, but not by much. I heard about windows 8 being better optimized for AMD, but after using it on a couple of friends machines i decided to skip 8, and stick with 7. Anyway im going to upgrade to intel in the next few months hopefully so its not too big of a deal.
