From the description of the symptoms, it would appear that there is some kind of disconnect between the controller of the drive and the data chip. If this same behavior happens on multiple computers than unfortunately the problem is with the drive itself and depending on what caused the disconnect may not be repairable. We stand by all our products and can replace the drive under it's five year warranty.
