It will depend on whether you want the full retail version or an OEM version. Full retail will run about $250, 32-bit or 64-bit OEM version will be just under $100.

The retail can be reused on a different computer or different hardware without any questions asked, any number of times.

The OEM can be reused if your motherboard or hdd dies, but you may end up having to call Microsoft support, especially if you need to do it more than once.

Also, the full Retail version contains both the 32-bit and 64-bit OS disks, whereas with the OEM versions, you only get one or the other.

If you get the OEM version, get the 64-bit. I really can't think of a good reason for anybody to get the 32-bit version.
