wireless internet disconnecting and connecting constantly

My computer (desktop that was personally built) is constantly disconnecting and reconnecting me to the internet. This will go on every 5 - 10 minutes, everyday. all day. There are some days when it works fine ( may only get disconnected once or twice. when i get disconnected, my wireless adapter cannot "sense" any of the available wifi sources in my area (its blank). When it finally connects again, i have internet for about 10 minutes or so until it disconnects again.

I have tried running Malware removal, IP release/renew/flush DNS, and bought a new wireless adapter but still have the same problem.

I have not tried to physically connect my computer into the router because of the distance of the router to my computer.

I have also just recently bought a brand new laptop which is able to connect to the router without issues. The other computers in the house also do not get disconnected as often as i do ( which makes me think this is a problem with my computer rather than with the router or the provider.

The signal strength is strong when it connects.

I am not overclocking any of my components.

The adapter is of the usb type

Please help, I have been scouring the internet (whenever it gives me a connection) for a solution but cannot find one.

You can check the power settings to make sure the computer is not turning the adapter off to save power.

I changed the power setting form balanced to high performance but I am not sure if that will change anything. I tried it and will update on changes

Thanks for the reply :)

Update: Still disconnects after about 5 minutes
