Need advice on a new router

My Up to 50Mbps TWC modem/router combo is really crappy. 30 feet away on the other side of the house through a couple walls devices have real trouble getting a good signal. At times you can't even watch netflix, or listen to pandora etc

So I want to buy a new router. Any reccodmendations on one that would be powerful enough to get a good signal throughout the house?

Or do I need to think about some kind of WIFI extender or similar?

I'd shoot more for a new router rather than extender. The extender will only repeat the best signal it has, an AC router will likely give you the best results for whole - home broadcasting, and for pushing through/avoiding any interference that might be in your home. Make sure you contact TWC if you get a new router so they can bridge their router so you don't get any unnecessary interference.
