basically im looking for the safety and redundancy that comes with a 4bay NAS(Raid5), but i don't need the network features. i would like to connect via USB 3.0 of possible, but USB 2.0 would be acceptable. i see a lot of these entry level NAS enclosures(Buffalo, ReadyNAS, Synology) have USB ports, but im not sure if they accept USB to connect to the computer or if the ports are for adding on via flash drive or traditional external HDD.

any thoughts, comments, or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

picked up a manufacturer refurbished 4bay DRobo off eBay for $150 and 4 Seagate Barracuda 2TB drives for $300. should be exactly what i need. just hoping USB 2.0 will handle the load, might have to add a Firewire 800 card, or use this one as a backup-backup and buy a newer USB 3.0 DRobo to run my storage lol
