Hi there. I'm running an AMD Radeon 6800 series card and am attempting to upgrade from a 2 to 3-monitor setup. I have one 32" LCD tv that is connected from hdmi to miniDP adapter to miniDP on GPU. A Viewsonic 24" monitor DVI to DVI. An Asus 22" monitor HDMI to HDMI. I bought the miniDP adapter because I was led to believe (from reading threads all over) that in order to get 3 monitors running on one ATI card at least one of the outputs had to be in miniDP or DP format. My problem is that it still only lets 2 of them be active at once. The other is black, no signal. I have unplugged any one of the 3 connected, and the black one becomes active. I've tried activating through the screen res control panel (because all of the monitors are detected) and it gives me the dreaded "Unable to save display setting" popup. What am I doing wrong??? Any help would be appreciated as I've gone through a lot of trouble, mounting the TV and buying the adapter etc. Thanks

edit: I also have tried making the miniDP adapter go to the DVI monitor by using an HDMI to DVI converter that I had lying around, thinking maybe that miniDP to DVI is better than miniDP to HDMI, but it gave me the same result.

So an update. I thought my problem was that the hdmi to miniDP adapter was not "active". So I bought an active one figuring it would solve the issue. It did not. Still a black screen. Still only 2 monitors can be on at one time. This is very frustrating and if anyone could please help that would be awesome!

either (a) the new adapter still isn't genuinely active, or (b) the card only supports 2 outputs, or (c) it's time to try a different card, I've had good luck with the Asus 7790, or (d) you could run two cards, bypassing the "DisplayPort for 3rd output" stuff, or (e) life is telling you to Go Green (NVidia) who tend not to shove DisplayPort down anyone's throat :p
