I want to use a Noctua NH-D14 CPU cooler on Asus Sabertooth Z87 Mother board.

I'll be using G.Skill Trident X Series 16GB (2 x 8gb) DDr3 2400.

In order to fit the memory card into DIMM slots with the NH-D14 cooler installed, i heard that I have to take off the heat spreader. If i do take it off, does it break or get slower?

also, if it does give me disadvantages, should i consider getting different G.Skill Ram that is completely compatible with the NH-D14 cooler like the Ripjaws or Sniper series?

You should be fine as long as you have good fans in the case it will not break or become slower. oh and that particular ram has removable top heat spreader part is actually an optional part you don't actually remove whole heat spreader just top part of it slides off

Removing the heat spreader will have no effect on performance, but you must be careful to avoid tearing the chips off the circuit board:

Removing the heat spreaders also removes the warranty, there are other ways around the problem like moving the front 120mm cooling fan to the rear of the NH-D14.
