Is this a good graphics card for gaming?

Solution

The 7850 might be a bit faster, but I think the 650ti will be a bit more fluid. I've had AMD/ATI cards as long as I can remember and just recently switched...

The boost version is 32 % faster.
but GTX 660 is 50% faster than GTX 650 ti

But would I get a 650 ti boost? even if its not 2GB? Or should I still stick with the 650 ti. I just crossed the line for splitting radeons and geforce. So I am now on the geforce side. Haha

What is the resolution on your monitor? That is the question I need an answer to first before I would recommend one over the other. 1920x1080? 1920x1200? 1600x900? If you're using the monitor right now, right click your desktop click screen resolution and next to the Resolution: (__________) tell me what is the highest number there.

what if the 650 ti has 2gb? Would that be better?

not much . if you have too weak processor ,it is more preferable to have 2GB VRAM , but if your processor is robust 1 GB additional VRAM will make no difference.

Once again it is relative to the resolution you want to be gaming at, you can get a card with 6gb vram but if you're gaming at 600x480 it wont make a bit of difference. Tells us what monitor you're using and your question can be answered much easier, saying get A, B or C without knowing the res you want performance at is pointless advice.

But would I get the 2GB just in case I upgrade? I am also using dual monitors too.

If you can afford the 650ti 2gb boost, then by all means get it, if its out of your budget and all you can get is the 650ti 2gb than get that instead, its now dependent on the money you wish to spend my friend.

And is 2GB just for the resolution? Or can it also be for gaming too? If so what does it do for gaming? Does it matter?

Or should I just get a 1GB even when I might be using dual monitors.
