Is it possible to crossfire the GPU core of the Kaveri A8-7600 and a R9 270 in a game to give me a performance boost? I heard this APU has an R7 chip.

No, you cannot crossfire it because of two/three reasons:

1. The GPU's must be the EXACT same eg. R9 270x and R9 270x. A R9 270x and 280 will not work
2. You cannot Crossfire integrated and external graphics.
3. I would not recommend it as your CPU will bottleneck the graphics performance.

You can Crossfire the integrated graphics on an APU. However yes you cannot crossfire with anything higher than the intergrated graphics
