Hey guys, This is a build I am currently working on that I would like your opinion on :-
(*some components I already have, the ones in bold I will list to not be factored into pricing)

Mobo : Asus ROG maximus VI HERO
GPU : Radeon 7970*
CPU : I7 4770k
Case : Zalman Z11 mid tower
Cooling : Corsair H100i
Ram : Crucial ballistixs tactical 16gb 2x8*
Win 7*

Total cost £546 (mb, cpu, cooling, case)

Cost wise, this is the upper most I can really go. My use for this is gaming but also 3d art (blender) so power is necessary. I will also want to be overclocking the i7 4770k pretty high if possible, to justify the cost of the cooling.

Is this a solid build for my needs, are there any discrepancies or things you would do differently to achieve the same goal, if I can save some amount of money that would be great but if all this is cohesive, I am willing to buy this build.

Thanks for your time in advance

Thats a very solid build, and if you are doing rendering grab the 4770k it will make a huge difference. The board is great for OCing and the H100 is one of the best closed loop coolers out there. I wouldnt let anybody talk you out of buying any of those components, you're on the right track toward a great rig for your requirements.

get the i5 4670k.. lower price almost similar performance as your main priority is gaming.

The Core i5-4670K will be as sufficient as the i7-4770K. From a gaming performance point of view it really doesn't matter which of the two CPU's you buy. On the other hand, if you consider the price difference between these two CPU's, then the i5-4670K is almost 90 Euro cheaper and the i7-4770K. In case of a gaming PC the i5-4670K is definitely more value for money and the i7-4770K only makes sense, when you actually run applications, which benefit from eight virtual cores.

Decided I am going for a NH-D14 cooler instead. The case couldn't fit the water cooler, but upon research I think i'd rather go air anyway, looks like a pain to clean after 6months but no matter!

Want to thank Srvc for his advice on the cpu, I did take it under consideration, however for me rendering is a big deal and the i7 cuts rendering time by approxiately 30% over the fx-8350 (not so much for the i5 but it will be noticable, couldnt find direct stats)
