monitor suddenly not working/wavy lines

the other day my PC was working fine. i was using an old Dell CRT. the next time i turned it on, nothing came on until it showed the screen which says Launch Startup Repair or Start Windows normally. i saw fuzzy vertical lines. so i chose start windows normally and it went off and wouldn't come back on. the next time i chose Launch Startup Repair and it stayed on with the screen waving vertically.

so i thought it was a monitor problem so my mate gave me an old flatscreen and it was doing the same thing...

if anyone knoes what to do please let me know

Spec

Gigabyte a85xm-hd3 motherboard
AMD A4-4000 3.0GHz processor
Corsair VS450 PSU
Kingston Hyperx 4GB 1600MHZ ram
toshiba 1TB hard drive

its a VGA connection

Through the CRT monitor it never showed the bios intro it was just blank saying no signal, and when it did come on at the OS selection screen or startup repair, the screen was glitchy waving left to right. when i selected windows 7 at the load screen the screen just switched on and off and never worked

the flatscreen monitor i got is the same but the fuzzy screen isn't as much and stays off saying no signal when windows starts.

it wont even let me see the bios screen
i was thinking it might work if i get a vga to dvi connector n try it in the dvi port?
