Here is my short story.
I have a dell 8700 witch came a raid 1 (1T each), and 2 years ago I added a 80g intel ssd. Few weeks ago, the raid failed (1 of the hard drives), but the computer still boot and I was able to see the files o the raid also. So I was working on it like this (with the raid status :failed)
My partition was like this:
C: (ssd 80G) with win 8 pro on it
D: (raid1) 600G of files
E: (raid 1) 90G (an old win 8 preview backup)
F (raid 1) empty
Friday the computer didn't boot anymore. So I install the win 8 cd, and repair the boot (a new partition was created 100m on the ssd). I also chose to "rebuild" the raid, with the status failed, and I let it "rebuild".
Now, the new partition created by the CD, change the names of the other partition, and assign the D name to the new created (100m) partition. All my files from the raid drive, disappear. I was able to se the folders, but nothing inside (no files). I was thinking that this happened during the "rebuild" period, so I was waiting for the files to "come back".

(don't remember the letter): (raid1) 600G of files

So, I said that if I rename the partition again, everything will be just fine. I rename the new create D partition (100m on ssd) to S, and I tried to rename the raid partition from E to D (back). When I did this, the entire raid hard, was unassigned, (all the old partition deleted, and no partition on the hard), and off course no files!
I now have:
C: (ssd 80G) with win 8 on it
S: (ssd) 100M (S because I rename it)
And a raid 1 hard rive, with no partition assigned.
So starting from yesterday, I start testing more then 10 software available online, to try to recover the raid files. Nothing works. (easeUS, aomei, r-studio, stellar, ...). Seems that are unable to find anything on the hard drive, even if they run for like 2 days
(r-studio needs more then 2days, but until now (1 day of scanning) nothing was find).
Stellar is showing only bad blocks on the raid, but I think this is impossible. Even if one of them is so damage that has only "bad blocks", one of them is still good, I was able to use files for the last few months.
I even try to use on hard, and disconnect the second one, but the same results I was getting : no files.
I said to reverse the process, and use software to recreate the old partition first. Non of them worked, they didn't find any partition. Now, I'm scanning for files, but nothing yet.
Now, browsing(chrome, Mozilla, IE) and outlook are the only programs running. All the rest (Photoshop for ex) are not working anymore.
I know is a strange situation, and this is the reason that I decide to write this post. Maybe somebody knows a good solution to recover the files from the old drive. I didn't made any partition on the raid drive, or add files, I only scan it for the last 2 days, hopping that any software will find and recover them, but no luck.
Tomorrow (Monday) I will start calling and ask for professional advise, but my guess is that all this guys are using the same type of software that is available online.
I start to think that the main reason is win 8, and if you delete a partition in win8, that it, is gone forever, thing works.
Any ideas?
