Is my power supply on the way out?

Hi

I've had my self built system for about 3 years and never had any problems. My system is now switching itself off at random times. For example today I booted up and managed half an hour before it suddenly rebooted. It then tries to start up again. Sometimes it lasts a second or two before rebooting again, not even getting past the boot prompts. Other times it gets into windows for a minute or so then reboots.

I've reseated all ram, processor, power leads and so there's nothing obviously wrong so I'm now thinking my power supply might be a bit iffy? There's also no overheating as far as I can see.

The fact that some of the reboots happen about 1 second after the previous one suggests to me it's not video/software related it I'm happy to be told otherwise. I also have standard components (gigabyte/xilence) - happy to post details if required.

Thanks for any advice.

It's definitely your PSU, I read up on the Company's PSUs and they are all failing and bad quality, I recommend to remove it from your system ASAP before it causes any harm and purchase a better quality one (from XFX, SeaSonic, Corsair, Silverstone, OCZ or EVGA)

Gathorisx - appreciate you taking the time to post your comments. I now have a new EVGA 500W psu which was reasonably priced, is quiet, and most importantly is working!

thanks again

Hi - stay with the Corsair, some of the EVGA 430's,500's, & 600's are made by HEC, a very low
quality OEM. The EVGA supernova series is good.
