Intel i3-4130 vs AMD FX 6300

I am going to be building a budget gaming pc for the first time and I will be buying my parts in this month. I will be doing 1080p gaming and probably overclocking in the future. My budget is $700-$800 after rebates and I am trying to pick out my cpu. Should I go with the intel i3-4130 cpu combo at newegg (or a separate mobo / cpu), or an AMD FX 6300 with a good mobo? Here is a comparison of the two cpus, I wanted to get the people here's opinions. And here is my build. I already bought the monitor, but I bought it with this build, that is why it's included in the price. If you have an alternative or a change to my build, I'm all ears. Thanks!

EDIT/UPDATE: THE AMD FX 6300/6350 would be bought as a bundle at microcenter at Boston/Cambridge. MICROCENTER

Yeah, go with the fx-6300.

i3-4130 is a great chip, it has blazing fast cores and performs pretty well in games compared to the fx-6300. But it only has 2 cores, which is (especially in the future) really a drawback for gaming. Moar cores are the future, even if that development will go slow. And since you want to overclock, fx-6300 is the clearly winner here.

The i3-4130 is great though if you use it for emulators and older games because it has way faster IPC than the fx-6300. And it has imo a better upgrade path and it is more energy efficient.

fx-6300 would be my vote. I just feel like a dual core cpu, even with hyper-threading, would be weak for modern gaming. The fx-6300 is a great chip especially if you overclock it. Then again i would really suggest an i5, and if you plan to upgrade later on if you went with the i3 you wouldn't need a new motherboard.

Yea, i would go with an i5 but, unlike AMD's CPUs, they are really expensive, and bring me out of my budget. Would you recommend the free gigabyte mobo with the amd fx 6300/6350? The only thing I am concerned about is the Memory Speeds, they only get up to 1333 (O.C.)

I too would suggest the 6300, especially if you're overclocking, i have mine up to 4.2 no problem what so ever. however i would suggest the msi mobo in the combo, i know it might put you over your budget but i think it would be a definite improvement

I would, but it would bring me over my budget and I have pretty much 0 flexibility. And also, like i said before, the closest store to me is Boston/Cambridge and they don't have it in stock.

Yea, I'm thinking that one is the best option. But sadly, since my store closest to me is Boston/Cambridge, I will have to wait until they restock it, because sadly, they have none. :( I also like how it has both SLI and CrossFire, since most of the AMD FX mobos only support crossfire and I have a Nvidia GPU.

The gigabyte mobo is the best of the two. As for the memory restriction, if you get ram with tight timings (like 7-7-7-20) then the performance difference wont be noticeable in the slightest. The motherboard will get the job done, and you should be able to overclock the cpu a little bit judging by the heat sinks on the board.
