So I recently bought a 7200rpm 2TB hdd because I always needed more space, and my old 250gb 5400rpm was getting slow (feels like its dying to be honest)

My problem is my disk drive broke the other week and now i cant install windows on it a conventional way ie using a disk, is there any way i could mount a windows 8 iso while in my exsisting install of windows and install it to the other hdd?

I am quite pc savy so dont be afraid to give me technical answers.

I imagine people will ask about bootable usb sticks and while I understand it is an easy option at the moment i only have a 2gb usb and windows 8 needs about 4gb.

I dont get paid till the end of the month so buying a disk drive or usb isnt an option.

Thanks for any help you can give me!

I have no money to spend on usb's until the end of the month.

Also anyone know how I can get rid of the solved tag? I hit it on my phone by accident :p

Unselected.
But for the OS install....you can't do it from another PC. If $6 is too much a strain on the budget.....borrow one.

Its not the fact that its too much strain on the budget, its that I literally have 0 money, I buy hand money over to my parents which allows me to eat there food and stay at home, if I had the money, id go and buy one.

There must be a way to do it, I fail to believe that something that simple is still not a thing.

And thanks for removing that as the answer :)

Trust me...I understand the whole budget thing. Been there.

But installing Windows requires a bootable drive. Either DVD or USB, booting on the machine you wish to install on.
Unless you have a whole domain/server/SMS/network setup, which you do not have.

So either buy one, borrow one, sacrifice a HDD (and use a dock you don't have), or wait....

Until there is an OS, there is no way to connect from another machine to install an OS.

Alright man, ill just wait until pay day its not too vital that I do it soon anyway, I just thought it would be something lots of people wanted/ just something simple that I wasnt aware of how to do it :p

Scratch that, I meant DVD rom drive or USB thumb drive.
