Hi,
Can i install Directx9 if i already have Directx 11.1?
after recent issues with SWTOR, i decided to test another game.. i have nothing else on pc, so i d/l Arma2free, from thier own site (mirrored d/l). I know its not the most modern i could try, but the specs suited what i have..
I updated it to latest patch and pressed play .. i got x3daudio1_6dll. error.. so i messed around and found it and put it into the arma folder.. then it gave me another dll error..xinput1_3. . :/
i can see this going on all day with hundreds of directx files.. so needed to ask if i can just install directx 9 without breaking or disrupting my directx 11.1 folders??
I thought directx 11 was compatible with directx 9 games.. but it seems not...b'cos the modern files are not accepted by some older games.. does that mean i have to manually install all dir.x 9 files into the games folder of the game that needs them>? or even the syswow folder of windows? or can i just run directx installer.exe for automatic? ive heard this doesnt work bcos of windows stupidity of recognising you already have a newer version etc...
so much for windows drive to push for generic drivers and compatibilty for all...
My system is
Windows 7 Home Premium Svc pack 1
E3300 cpu soon to be replaced.. rubbish but not the cause of direct x 9 file issues
AMD HD7750 gpu - updated this week
4g mem
