My cat walked across my keyboard and now my laptop won't connect to the internet. It doesn't see any wireless networks at all. My desktop computer works fine.

Solution
There is probably a wireless hotkey. Try holding fn and hitting F2.
If that is not it reboot, hit F2 while rebooting to access the bios, select "wireless" then "wireless hotkey" and select "none". Exit saving changes. That will disable a key from turning off wi-fi.

BIOS access is pretty much brand-specific so it's not surprising that the answer given for a Dell won't work on your ASUS. Google says you should hit Del when you see the Asus logo but I'm not at all sure that'll work if it's a new PC with UEFI rather than BIOS.
