Micro stutter when playing 1080p movies

Hello,

I have a pretty old laptop with an Intel i3 M 330 2,13 ghz and a Mobility Radeon 5650. When playing movies at 1080p I get micro stutters. Do you think my CPU is to weak or do you have any suggestions how to get rid of the stutters? I use VLC and HDMI to my TV.

Is that newest version of VLC? Go to tools -> preferences -> video, try changing 'Output' mode to other, experiment also with 'Input/Codecs' -> HW Accelerated Decoding. Save and restart program.
Also try using other media player (WMP, BestPlayer..) to eliminate possible drivers problems.
