Hi all,

Not too long ago I purchased the boxed edition AMD 8350 FX. So far I've been using the stock cooler resulting in a CPU temperature of 70 degrees with a room temperature of 20 degrees and 90% CPU load on all cores (FAN speed at its maximum speed with a %@$-load of noise :().

However, during the summer months the room temperature easily reaches 30 degrees which could result in an overheated CPU by then. Given this high room temperature during the summer months im looking for a new CPU cooler. I'm considering the following:

1: AIR: The Noctua D14 which proved to be a high quality cooler with decent temperatures under load
or
2: WATER: a closed Watercooling system with 1 fan (for example Corsair Hydro H80i)

My question to you guys is; what system would you choose given the high room temperature and the wish for a quiet system (i'm not planning on overclocking)?

Thanks for your reply!

I'm shortly looking to go back to air cooling, liquid was cool for looks but I'm paranoid about it leaking. I'd go air to be safer, you don't want your stuff frying. Most liquid coolers only have a wimpy 1 year warranty and after that if they leak and fry your parts your SOL, I only got the corsair because it has a 5 year warranty but I don't want to go through the trouble of RMA....so in short, the Noctua is a fine high end air cooler, or even the Phanteks 140mm cooler for ~$75

do you already have a couple of fans on your case for intake? At least 1 or 2 in the front, and 1 or 2 on the side would be helping as well. Also make sure cables are out of the way.

Hi,

I do have a couple of case fans. Two in the front (intake) and one in the back (outtake) combined in a NXZT H230 which has quite some airholes.

Thanks for your replies btw :)!
