I've narrowed my first ever build down to the following parts:

CPU: Intel i5-3570k

Mobo: ASUS P8Z77-V Pro

Storage: 1TB Western Digital 3.5in. HD, 120GB Samsung SATA III SSD

Case: Corsair Obsidian 650D

All I'm missing now is the optical drive, power supply, and video card.

All I need right now is a basic optical drive just so I can install my OS. I may upgrade to a Blu-Ray burner sometime much, much later which I've recouped from this PC. But just a standard optical drive is all I need.

The video card I've narrowed down to 2 choices: GTX760 or GTX770. I just wanted to know if the 770 was really that much better than a 760. If there are cheaper cards that perform exactly like these two, then by all means throw some of those out, too,

And finally, I need to know what power supply I need to power all of this stuff.

One final thing: any other components I may need (e.g. cooling system, fans, etc.) would be awesome to know, too! Any help would be greatly appreciated! :)

EDIT: I forgot to mention, the resolution I will be gaming at is 1920x1080.

Solution
Yes, the cx600 would be perfectly fine.

Overclocking does not make really any difference. it is a hobby, not a necessity at all.

If you arent overclocking change the CPU to an i5 4440 and the motherboard to an h87 board.

GTX 770 will have less performance per dollar but it's not that much more expensive than the gtx 760. It just depends on how much you value higher fps/settings.. can't really recommend one. I would personally be satisfied with gtx 760, and sell it next year for a GTX 800 series card.

Get the cheapest optical drive you can find, and forget blu-ray. Optical drives are dead, unless your internet is absolut sh*t.

PSU:
if overclock: 650 watt
if not overclock: 550 watt
Decent brand ofcourse, seasonic/xfx > corsair (cx models)

I've read that you want at least 750w. I'm not saying you're wrong or they're right, but could you clarify that for me? Is that just as a safety precaution?

No 750w is WAY overkill.

The gtx770 pulls MAXIMUM FULL LOAD 197w.

You could run that system on a 450w PSU technically. 550w-650w is more than enough easily.

Those numbers are for people who buy complete junk PSUs. saying the GPU needs a crazy amount of power protects the manufacturer from these morons buying junk and frying their computer. Example $35 700w PSU will actually make less than 500w and will easily from the computer, but a $60 500w PSU will make 600w and easily be reliable and power the system.

Will the CORSAIR CX series CX600 suffice as my PSU then? I've read that there's no point to getting the parts I'm getting unless I plan to overclock, but I really don't even know if overclocking makes a tremendous difference, that's how new I am to this.
